Image(Video) Quality Enhancement

Despite the evolution of the image acquisition technologies, the recorded image does not fully represent the real visual scene. This is because of limited dynamic range and distortions of the acquisition system. To overcome this limitation, we develop a image quality enhancement system that includes super-resolution, high dynamic range imaging, and frame rate up-conversion techniques.

Super-resolution – A technique that enhances the image resolution and makes it clearer for viewers

High dynamic range imaging – Set of techniques that allow a greater dynamic range of between the rightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging techniques

Frame rate up-conversion – A technique that increases the frame rate of moving pictures by inserting an interpolated frame between two adjacent original frames to reduce the motion blur
